Need help? Web Landmann provides as much professional assistance as you need, no more than you want. Our services can be divided or packaged to stay within your budget. We want your message to reach your audience, and we want you to look good.

Worth Noting:

Paul Landmann reviews Eats, Shoots & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation, the runaway best-seller by Lynne Truss. It introduces punctuation to people who would not usually pick up a book on that subject. It is both fun and helpful.

The News Release Game

Most news stories about new products or services in newspapers and business publications are not written by staff reporters. They are written–in polished form–as news releases. Need publicity? A good news release is one of the most effective ways of getting it. And it can be one of the least expensive. What is a good news release? A good news release is one that editors print! That is the short answer. The long answer starts with the admonition: Don’t annoy the editor because the editor chooses which stories to run in his or her pages.

Orwell's Rules

George Orwell was a passionate political essayist in addition to writing the biting political novels, 1984 and Animal Farm. Unfortunately, the essays of his political compatriots were often ponderous, if not unintelligible. To address that problem, Orwell wrote, Politics and the English Language, a brief essay about clean writing. It includes six rules that every writer should memorize.

Coyote Theory: A Guide to Persuasive Writing

Persuasive writing requires hard work, discipline, and knowing the rules. Knowing a few tricks doesn’t hurt, either. “Old Coyote” knows more than a few tricks.

Most reasonably intelligent people can master the art of writing persuasively. Coyote Theory shows how to do it. An excerpt from this guide is reprinted here.

William Morris about Web design

William Morris (1834-1896) was an artist and designer who rejected Victorian ornamentation as an unsavory product of the industrial revolution, just as he rejected the shoddy goods produced by 19th century factories. Morris designed books, type faces, fabric, furniture, wallpaper, and stained glass. The Morris chair was named after him. Web page designers can learn a lot from this crusty curmudgeon.

Says who?

Paul Landmann works out of his home studio in Bayfield County, Wisconsin, near Lake Superior, where he is joined in his work by Lea Landmann, a former magazine and daily newspaper editor and feature writer. Paul has a computer and will travel, but he uses email, the telephone, fax, and conventional mail for most of his work. That saves his clients a bundle. More about Web Landmann.
